Tamil Nadu Reviews Electricity Bills Amid Complaints
People in Tamil Nadu are upset because their electricity bills have suddenly become much higher.
The government promised to give everyone 200 units of free electricity, but some people think the bills are still too high.
The electricity board is now checking the bills to make sure everything is correct.
Some people also think the government might have secretly raised the prices.
The board is telling its workers to check the meters and fix any mistakes so people don't have to pay too much.
Widespread complaints in Tamil Nadu over electricity bills being 2-3 times higher than usual.
Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (Tangedco) ordered a review of the billing process.
Government's free electricity scheme offers 200 units free to households consuming up to 500 units.
Criticism over retaining bi-monthly billing instead of switching to monthly billing.
