Goa Digital Arrest Probe Exposes Pan-India Cyber Fraud Network

The Enforcement Directorate is investigating a large cyber-fraud network.

It started after a woman in Goa was allegedly tricked and pressured into sending Rs.

2.6 crore.

The people involved told her the money was going into secret supervision accounts.

This type of scam is called a digital arrest because victims are falsely made to believe they are under official investigation or detention.

The ED arrested two men in connection with the case.

The agency says their bank accounts are connected to more than 163 police cases.

These cases span 20 states and Union Territories.

Investigators say the reported losses are more than Rs.

400 crore.

The report describes the network as having 330 victims.
