India Loses ₹8,000–10,000 Crore Annually to Health Insurance Fraud
Medi Assist and BCG found that India loses a lot of money, around ₹8,000–10,000 crore every year, because of fraud and mistakes in health insurance claims.
They say that most claims are fine, but some are fraudulent or have problems.
They suggest using better technology and rules to stop this from happening.
Medi Assist also made new AI tools to help detect and prevent these issues.
This can make health insurance cheaper and more reliable for everyone.
India loses ₹8,000–10,000 crore annually due to Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) in health insurance.
90% of claims are risk-free, 2% are confirmed fraudulent, and 8% fall into a grey zone.
BCG and Medi Assist recommend a three-pillar framework: Prevention, Detection, and Deterrence.
Medi Assist launched AI-driven platforms MAven Guard and MAgnum to improve claim processing.
The initiative aims to support the government's 'Insurance for All' vision by 2047.
