Over 22,000 ILPs issued in Mizoram's Sairang station
Since the new railway line opened in Mizoram, over 22,000 special travel permits called Inner Line Permits (ILPs) have been given to visitors.
These permits are needed for anyone, even Indians, to enter Mizoram.
Most visitors are tourists, but in December, more workers and traders came.
The police at the station are very busy because they have to do extra jobs like managing traffic and checking permits.
They say they don't have enough people to handle all the work, especially when many passengers arrive at once.
Some people have tried to enter without the right permits, but the police send them back.
Over 22,000 Inner Line Permits (ILPs) issued at Sairang railway station since September 2025.
Average of 100 to 200 ILPs issued per train arrival, with two trains arriving daily.
Majority of visitors in October and November were tourists, while December saw more migrant workers and traders.
Police at the station face manpower shortages and handle additional duties like traffic management.
Authorities have detected and sent back several violators attempting to evade ILP checks.
