Beijing Braces for Floods as Typhoon Dolphin Sweeps China

A giant storm called Typhoon Dolphin moved across China and brought huge amounts of rain.

The rain hit the capital city, Beijing, so hard that roads turned into rivers.

Cars and buses were partly underwater, and traffic came to a stop.

Beijing's leaders gave out the city's second-highest storm warning.

They stopped 250 bus routes, closed 150 fun places for visitors, and made the subway go slower to keep people safe.

One part of Beijing got 90.7 millimeters of rain in just one hour.

The storm traveled about 6,000 kilometers from the ocean before landing in eastern China, and it is weaker now but still very rainy.

Some cities, like Wugang and Xiangyang, got more rain in one day than ever before during August.

More than one million people were moved to safer places so they would not be hurt.

Scientists believe very strong storms like this can happen more often because the earth is getting warmer.
