Delhi to Enforce ₹10,000 Fines for Vehicles Without PUC
Delhi plans to more strictly check whether vehicles have pollution certificates.
The checks are expected to begin on October 1, 2026.
Vehicles without a valid certificate could receive a fine of up to ₹10,000.
Petrol, diesel and CNG vehicles need these certificates.
Electric vehicles do not need them because they have no tailpipe emissions.
The government also wants to use better technology at testing centres.
A rule linking fuel purchases to valid certificates will be strengthened.
Delhi also announced limits on construction, parking, office travel and some vehicles entering the city.
Vehicles without valid Pollution Under Control certificates could face fines of up to ₹10,000 from October 1, 2026.
The enforcement campaign will target petrol, diesel and CNG vehicles lacking valid PUC certificates.
Electric vehicles are exempt because they produce no tailpipe emissions.

Other measures include fuel restrictions, construction curbs, doubled parking charges and entry limits for some outside vehicles.
