Tejasvi Surya Launches 'Lalbagh for Sale' Campaign
Tejasvi Surya, a BJP MP from Bengaluru, started a campaign called 'Lalbagh for Sale' to protest against a government plan to build a tunnel road that would use part of Lalbagh Botanical Garden.
He says the project will hurt the environment and might be used for real estate instead of helping traffic.
Many people, including environmentalists, agree with him and want the government to find another way to build the road without damaging Lalbagh.
Surya plans to keep fighting this plan both in court and through public awareness.
Tejasvi Surya launched the 'Lalbagh for Sale' campaign to oppose the North-South Tunnel Road Project.
The project proposes using five acres of Lalbagh Botanical Garden, which Surya claims will harm the environment.
Surya distributed pamphlets and spoke to visitors at Lalbagh, warning about the project's potential impact on green cover and biodiversity.
The government aims to ease traffic congestion by connecting Hebbal and Silk Board Junction with the tunnel road.
Environmental groups and citizen groups have also opposed the project, demanding alternative alignments that avoid Lalbagh.
