Maoist Leader Bade Chokka Rao Detained
Some police in Telangana, India, have reportedly detained a leader named Bade Chokka Rao and 15 other people who are part of a group called CPI(Maoist).
This group is banned by the government.
The police say they haven't detained Rao, but the Maoist group says they have and wants the police to take them to court.
The Maoist group also says the government is doing bad things to the environment and wants the police to stop.
The group's spokesperson, Jagan, asked poets and other people to speak out against this.
Bade Chokka Rao, a leader of the banned CPI(Maoist), and 15 others were reportedly detained by Telangana police.
The detention occurred during a regular combing operation in Mulugu district, with the leaders allegedly taken to undisclosed locations.
CPI(Maoist) spokesperson Jagan demanded that the detained leaders be produced in court, calling the detention illegal.
Jagan accused the NDA-led BJP government of implementing RSS ideology and exploiting natural resources, leading to Operation Kagar against Maoists.
Telangana police have denied detaining Bade Chokka Rao, calling it speculation.
