Santoshi father-son films mark Independence Day, 80 years apart

A long time ago, in 1947, India became a free country.

On that very same day, a movie called Shehnai came out in theaters.

It was one of the first Hindi movies of free India.

A man named P.L. Santoshi wrote and directed it.

There was even an 18-year-old boy in the movie who later became the very famous singer and actor Kishore Kumar.

Now, 80 years later, India is celebrating its independence again.

P.L. Santoshi's son, Rajkumar Santoshi, made a new movie called Batwara 1947.

It will come out around Independence Day in 2026 and stars Sunny Deol and Priety Zinta.

So a father and son each made a special movie connected to India's Independence Day, 80 years apart.
