Delhi Metro outshines global peers with record 99.95% punctuality

The Delhi Metro is a huge train system in Delhi, India that carries millions of people every day.

The people who run it say its trains are almost always on time.

A train only counts as late if it arrives more than 59 seconds after its scheduled time.

In 2026, its trains were on time 99.95 percent of the time.

That is better than metro systems in Hong Kong, Paris and New York.

The trains also rarely break down, which makes the system reliable.

Some Delhi Metro trains even drive themselves without a driver.

Line 7 is the world's longest driverless metro line.

The metro has grown from a tiny six-station start in 2002 to a huge network of 303 stations on 12 lines.

It moved more than 81 lakh people in a single day in August 2025.
