SPPU Increases Exam Fees by 20%, Draws Student Protests
Imagine you're in school, and the university has to charge you a small fee for your exams.
Well, the university called SPPU in Pune decided to make these fees a little more expensive, by 20%.
They said it was because they hadn't raised fees in a long time.
This means students will have to pay a bit more for each exam they take.
Some student groups, like the NSUI, are unhappy about this, saying it's not fair to the students.
They believe the fees are a form of financial exploitation.
SPPU announced a 20% increase in exam fees for the 2025-26 academic year.
The increase applies to both the 2019 syllabus and the New Education Policy (NEP) pattern.
The fee hike was decided on September 14th and uploaded on the university website on September 18th.
Fees had not been increased for seven years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Student groups oppose the fee increase, calling it 'financial exploitation'.
