Gujarat Hospital Achieves 500 Kidney Transplants in 2025
A hospital in Gujarat, called IKDRC, did something amazing in 2025.
They performed 502 kidney transplants, which is a lot!
They also did 86 liver transplants.
The hospital uses special robots to help with some of the kidney transplants, and most of the patients got their treatment for free through a government scheme called Ayushman Bharat.
The hospital helps people from all over India, not just Gujarat.
They are really good at what they do and are setting a great example for other hospitals in the country.
IKDRC performed 502 kidney transplants and 86 liver transplants in 2025.
The hospital conducted 157 cadaver transplants, 90 swap transplants, 49 paediatric transplants, and 43 robotic kidney transplants.
170 kidney patients from other states were treated at IKDRC.
Most transplants were conducted under the Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya (AB-PMJAY) scheme.
IKDRC aims to perform over 100 robotic kidney transplants in 2025, all free of cost.
