ED summons former Punjab chief secretary in Mohali land case

The Enforcement Directorate is investigating possible rule-breaking in several land development projects.

It has asked former Punjab chief secretary Anurag Verma to answer questions on August 31.

IAS officer Kanwal Preet Brar must appear again on August 27 and bring more documents.

The investigation includes the Suntec City and Muirwoods Ecocity projects.

Officials are checking whether land-use permissions and project layouts were changed improperly.

They are also examining whether private developers benefited from government decisions.

The agency previously arrested Ajay Sehgal in a related money-laundering case.

Being summoned does not mean that Verma, Brar or anyone else has been found guilty.
