NCERT Class 9 Textbook Connects Ram Rajya With Good Governance
A new Class 9 schoolbook explains an idea called Ram Rajya.
Mahatma Gandhi described it as a model where leaders work for the happiness and welfare of the people.
The book says good government should be honest, transparent, caring and focused on citizens.
It uses stories and ideas from the Ramayana, Ramcharitmanas, Mahabharata and Vedic traditions.
These traditions describe governing as a responsibility, not just a way to use power.
The chapter also introduces Rajdharma, meaning the duties of a righteous ruler.
The book was released on Tuesday, six months after the new school year began.
