Suprabatha Seva Resumes at Tirumala
The Tirumala temple in Tirupati is starting the Suprabatha Seva ritual again on Thursday.
This ritual was paused during a special month called Dhanurmasam, when a different prayer called Andal Tiruppavai was recited instead.
Suprabatha Seva is a very important morning prayer where priests wake up the temple's main deity with special songs and chants.
These songs have 70 parts and are sung by learned priests.
After the ritual, the temple opens for the first viewing of the day.
This ritual is considered very sacred by the temple's followers.
Suprabatha Seva resumes at Tirumala temple on Thursday after the conclusion of Dhanurmasam.
During Dhanurmasam, the daily Suprabatham was replaced by the Andal Tiruppavai recitation from December 17 to January 14.
Suprabatha Seva is the first and most important daily ritual, performed in the early hours at the Sayana Mandapam.
The ritual involves Vedic chants and compositions by saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya, with the Suprabhatam hymn comprising 70 slokas.
After the seva, the silver idol Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy is returned to the Garbha Griha, and the Bangaru Vakili is opened for the first darshan of the day.
