Devadula Supplies Irrigation Water as Dry Spell Hits Crops

Devadula Supplies Irrigation Water as Dry Spell Hits Crops

Farmers in the Warangal area needed water for their crops, but there was not enough rain.

A big water project called the Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme is helping by lifting water from the Godavari river to fill reservoirs.

For the past month, workers pumped and stored water so that there is enough during the dry spell.

Several reservoirs are now holding more than half of their water capacity.

The water is released little by little in an on-and-off pattern so it can reach fields far away from the reservoirs.

A leader named Kadiyam Srihari released water from reservoirs and said protecting farmers' crops is the government's top priority.

He told farmers not to start planting new paddy and to use every drop of water carefully.

He said Devadula is the only irrigation project in the State releasing water right now.

Srihari said two political parties, the BRS and BJP, are spreading false information about the Congress government.

He also announced a new 220 kV electricity substation costing Rs 100 crore for the area.
