Murmu Says Degrees Do Not Guarantee Women’s Workforce Participation
President Droupadi Murmu spoke to students at a university graduation ceremony.
She noticed that many women were earning degrees and gold medals.
However, fewer women were joining formal jobs.
She said this does not mean women lack intelligence or ability.
Some women stay home to raise and educate their children.
Murmu said this work also helps build the country.
She encouraged graduates to use their learning to help other people.
She also said humans must decide how technology and artificial intelligence are used.
President Droupadi Murmu said women’s academic success is not always reflected in workforce participation.
She said many women contribute to nation-building by raising and educating their children at home.
Murmu made the remarks at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda’s 75th convocation in Vadodara.
The university conferred degrees on around 12,600 students and awarded 202 gold medals to 161 students.
She urged graduates to use education for society’s benefit and apply technology with human judgment.
