Lok Sabha Passes Bill to Increase Supreme Court Judges
The Indian Parliament’s lower house, called the Lok Sabha, voted to change a law that sets how many judges sit on the Supreme Court.
The new law will raise the number from 34 to 38, which includes the Chief Justice.
The vote happened without a formal debate, and some members shouted slogans about other political issues.
A resolution that criticized the earlier ordinance was also rejected.
After the vote, the house ended its session for the day.
