Bank of Baroda Q1 profit drops 72% due to exceptional loss

Bank of Baroda, a major Indian bank, recently reported a big drop in its first-quarter profit.

The profit fell by 72% compared to the same period last year.

This happened because the bank had to pay a large one-time loss of Rs 5,680.2 crore to settle a legal case involving NMC Health in Abu Dhabi.

Despite this, the bank's interest income went up by 10%, and its overall business grew by 15.4%.

The bank's loans, especially for homes, autos, and education, also increased.

However, the quality of its loans worsened slightly, with more loans not being repaid on time.

The bank's stock price went up a bit but is still down for the year.
