FSSAI Suspends Marche Retail Licence, Bars SDP Ghee Sales

FSSAI Suspends Marche Retail Licence, Bars SDP Ghee Sales

India’s food regulator, FSSAI, found serious problems at two food businesses.

It suspended Marche Retail’s licence for 30 days.

Marche Retail must stop all food-related work while it fixes the problems.

Inspectors cited issues with cleanliness, worker hygiene, training and required records.

FSSAI also stopped SDP Industries from selling all of its ghee products.

Tests found a substance called A-sitosterol in samples of the ghee.

The regulator said this result and the fat composition could point to foreign or vegetable fats.

The ghee brands named in the reports included Shraddha, Shree Saras and Gokul.

FSSAI said these actions were part of a wider enforcement drive involving notices to food, online-shopping and restaurant businesses.
