A court in Bengaluru found an Income Tax officer and a chartered accountant guilty in a bribery case.

The case started about 14 years ago.

The officer had issued notices saying that more than Rs 3.28 crore in income had not been properly assessed.

The court sentenced both accused men to three years in prison.

It also ordered each of them to pay a Rs 1 lakh fine.

The convictions were made under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
