Middle-Class Anger in India Finds New Expression

Middle-Class Anger in India Finds New Expression

Manu Joseph writes about anger among India’s middle class.

He says one major wave of anger followed the Mumbai terror attack in November 2008.

People became upset with politicians and joined protests.

The movement grew when Anna Hazare went on a hunger strike in Delhi.

Another protest wave followed the rape and murder of a young woman in the capital.

People demanded better safety for women.

Joseph says that movement did not last long.

He also says many later protests were organized or controlled by political parties opposing the BJP.
