Samsung Unveils Low-Maintenance Cooling Features for Summer Homes
Samsung has made an air conditioner designed to need less work from people.
It can clean parts of itself using a process called Freeze Wash.
The process freezes and then melts water over the heat exchanger to help remove dirt and microorganisms.
It can also dry itself after cooling so moisture, bacteria and odors are less likely to build up.
The cleaning cycle may run while nobody is home.
The air conditioner can check some of its own parts and remind people when maintenance may be needed.
People can open part of the unit without special tools to clean it.
Its filter can be washed and reused instead of being thrown away.
Samsung’s Bespoke AI WindFree Pro air conditioner combines automated cleaning, AI monitoring and easier manual maintenance.
Its Freeze Wash cycle freezes, defrosts and dries the heat exchanger, with Samsung claiming it removes 95% of microorganisms.
Unoccupied Auto Clean can run Freeze Wash while residents are away, while Auto Clean dries internal moisture after use.
AI Diagnosis checks refrigerant levels, sensors and motors, and SmartThings tracks filter status and offers maintenance notifications.
The unit includes a tool-free Easy Open Blade and a washable, semi-permanent filter designed to simplify cleaning and reduce replacement costs.
