Iran Threatens Maritime Escalation as Houthis Attack Saudi Arabia

Iran and the United States are fighting a serious conflict that is affecting nearby countries and ships.

Houthi forces backed by Iran attacked cities in Saudi Arabia, and Saudi officials said 73 people were hurt.

Iran says the United States is using economic pressure against it.

Iran threatened to create a restricted area across parts of the Persian Gulf.

It also said it had used a new Qassem Basir missile against U.S. warships.

The U.S. military said its ships avoided the missile attacks.

Iran has also disrupted shipping near the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for oil and gas.

Slower ship traffic could make energy more expensive and increase fears of a larger war.

Both sides continue to threaten each other while diplomatic progress remains stalled.
