Punjab Cabinet Approves Stilt-Plus-Four Floors for Urban Development
Imagine building a house in Punjab.
The government has made new rules to make it easier to build taller buildings.
Now, you can build a ground floor (stilt) and four floors above it, instead of just three.
This helps use land better and encourages buildings to grow upwards.
The rules also let companies check building plans themselves sometimes, making things faster.
This is all part of a plan to improve cities in Punjab.
Punjab Cabinet approved the Punjab Unified Building Rules of 2025.
New constructions will be allowed to have stilt-plus-four floors.
The rules aim for uniform regulatory framework, ease of doing business, efficient land use, and vertical urban growth.
Permissible height for low-rise buildings increased from 15m to 21m.
Third-party self-certification for plan approval and completion is now enabled.
