Microsoft Offers Free Windows 10 Security Updates in Europe
Microsoft is giving free security updates to people in Europe who use Windows 10.
This is because their current system is ending support soon.
Microsoft was originally going to make people back up their files or use extra features, but after a consumer group spoke up, they changed their minds.
Now, people in Europe can get the updates without doing anything extra, keeping their computers safe.
This free support will last until October 2026.
Consumer groups also want Microsoft to extend these free updates further to protect more users.
Microsoft will provide free security updates for Windows 10 users in the European Economic Area (EEA).
This decision came after pressure from consumer rights group Euroconsumers.
The updates will be free without any conditions, such as using Windows Backup.
European users will receive critical security fixes until October 13, 2026.
Other regions may still require users to enable Windows Backup for extended security updates.
