Turkey Raids ISIS Suspects After Deadly Clash
In a small town in Turkey, police officers were hurt and killed during a fight with people they think are part of a group called Islamic State.
The fight happened early in the morning near a house where the police believed these people were hiding.
Three police officers and six militants were killed, while eight other police officers and a night guard were hurt.
The police had to close off the road, cut off natural gas and electricity, and call for help from special forces.
This happened just a week after the police arrested many people they thought were planning to attack during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
A long time ago, this group was responsible for hurting many people in Turkey, including at a nightclub and an airport in Istanbul.
The police also evacuated five women and six children from the house where the militants were hiding.
The next day, the police arrested 357 more suspects in 21 provinces, including Istanbul and Ankara.
Some of these suspects were linked to the militants in the fight, while others were suspected of planning attacks or collecting money for the Islamic State.
Three Turkish police officers and six Islamic State militants were killed in a clash in Yalova province, northwest Turkey.
The clash occurred around 2 a.m. local time on Monday during a police operation at a house believed to contain militants.
Eight other police officers and a night guard were wounded, with the operation supported by special forces from neighboring Bursa province.
The operation was part of more than a hundred simultaneous raids against IS suspects in 15 provinces across the country.
