India Boosts Maritime Capabilities with Indigenous Vessels
India has made big strides in building its own ships.
The Indian Coast Guard got a new ship called Samudra Pratap, which is the first ship made in India to help with pollution in the sea.
It's very big and has special tools to clean up oil spills.
At the same time, another company called Hindustan Shipyard Limited started building two strong tugboats for a port in Visakhapatnam.
These tugboats are also made in India and are very powerful.
Both projects show that India is getting better at making its own ships and taking care of its waters.
Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) laid the keel for the first 60-tonne Bollard Pull (BP) Tug for Visakhapatnam Port Authority.
A contract was signed for the construction of a second tug of the same class.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) inducted Samudra Pratap, the first indigenously designed and built Pollution Control Vessel (PCV).
Samudra Pratap is the largest ship in the ICG fleet, equipped with advanced technology for pollution control and surveillance.
Both projects align with India's Maritime India Vision 2030 and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, emphasizing indigenous shipbuilding.
