Stone-Pelting During Indore RE-2 Clearance Drive Injures Two

Officials in Indore began clearing buildings that stand in the way of finishing a road called RE-2.

The work took place in parts of Kanadia on Tuesday.

Some people opposed the action, and stones were thrown as the machines were leaving, according to officials.

Two people were hurt, and police detained about eight or nine people.

Officials said they first spoke with residents and that some people moved their belongings.

The road is 4.25 kilometres long, but nearly one kilometre is still unfinished.

Authorities say many affected families have already moved to other homes.

They plan to shift more families to housing at Nilgiri.
