Air India Expands In-Cabin Pet Policy
Air India has made it easier for people to travel with their small pets.
Now, pets that weigh up to 10kg, including their carrier, can fly in the cabin with their owners on Air India flights.
This is part of their new 'Paws on Board' program.
The pets must be in a special carrier that is soft, leak-proof, and has holes for air.
Only two pets are allowed in the cabin per flight, and they will sit in the last row.
The fee for this service is Rs7,500 for flights within India and $140 or $160 for international flights, depending on the distance.
Bigger pets can be checked in as baggage or sent as cargo, but there are some rules about where they can go.
For example, pets can't go to the USA, Canada, or Australia in the cabin or as checked baggage.
Also, certain types of dogs with flat faces can't go in the cargo hold because it's not safe for them.
To use this service, you need to book at least 48 hours before your flight and show some important papers about your pet's health.
Air India's 'Paws on Board' policy allows pets up to 10kg to fly in-cabin with owners.
Booking must be confirmed at least 48 hours prior to departure.
In-cabin fee is Rs7,500 for domestic flights and $140-$160 for international flights.
Pets over 10kg must be booked as checked baggage or cargo, with specific carrier requirements.
Pets are not allowed in the cabin or as checked baggage to/from the USA, Canada, and Australia.
