Indian Railways Approves Maharashtra Projects to Boost Train Operations

Indian Railways approved two projects to improve train services in Maharashtra.

Together, the projects are worth Rs 990 crore.

The article gives details about one of them.

That project will add a second track between Chouk and Karjat.

The section is 10.86 kilometres long and currently has only one track.

A second track should allow more passenger and freight trains to run.

It may add five passenger trains in each direction every day.

It is also expected to support 18.35 million tonnes of additional freight each year and reduce delays for freight trains.
