India Marks 80th Independence Day with Flag Hoisting Ceremonies

India has a special day every year called Independence Day.

It celebrates the day the country became free.

This year was the 80th Independence Day of India.

The biggest celebration was held at a famous fort called the Red Fort.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, spoke to the whole nation from the fort.

For the first time ever, the national song 'Vande Mataram' was sung at this special ceremony.

An army band played music while the guests sang along.

The Prime Minister then raised the Indian flag, and everyone sang the National Anthem.

People in many states and cities, like Patna, Kolkata, and Agartala, also celebrated with their own flag-hoisting events.
