Goa to Support Warkaris on Pandharpur Pilgrimage
The Goa government is planning to help the warkaris, who are devotees that go on a big walk to a holy place called Pandharpur in Maharashtra.
Every year, about 3,000 people from Goa join this walk, called the Pandharpur wari.
The government wants to make this journey easier for them by giving things like first-aid kits, raincoats, and even buses to bring them back home.
They will also register the groups of warkaris to keep track of everyone.
This is because the government thinks it's important to support these cultural and spiritual traditions, especially to encourage younger people to take part.
The plan will start next year, and soon they will begin signing up the warkari groups.
Goa government to launch support scheme for warkaris undertaking Pandharpur pilgrimage from next financial year.
Assistance includes first-aid kits, traditional cymbals, rainwear, and return transport via KTC buses.
Scheme aims to register and recognize warkari groups, encouraging organized participation and younger involvement.
