Nine child labourers rescued in UP's Bahraich
In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, a team of officials and an NGO conducted surprise inspections at various commercial establishments.
They rescued nine children who were working in these places.
Legal action has been taken against the owners of seven of these establishments because employing children under 14 is against the law.
The officials also talked to traders and the public about the importance of not employing children and sending them to school instead.
They said they will continue to do these checks in the future to stop child labour.
Nine child labourers were rescued during a special drive in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh.
Legal action has been initiated against seven establishment owners under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, as amended in 2016.
The drive was conducted by a joint team comprising officials from the revenue department, labour department, police, the District Child Protection Unit, and an NGO.
Traders and the public were sensitized about child labour laws during the campaign.
