Bombay HC Orders FDA to Inspect Government Canteens

The Bombay High Court has ordered the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to inspect all government and semi-government canteens, including those at Mantralaya and the High Court.

This comes after the court questioned whether food safety norms were being enforced uniformly.

The court also heard a case where the FDA suspended the license of Park Inn by Radisson in Navi Mumbai due to food safety violations.

The court is considering whether the suspension is proportionate to the violations, as the hotel had a high compliance score but was found to have insects in the kitchen.

The next hearing is scheduled for July 31, 2026.
