Madras HC Raps Madurai Administration Over Thirupparankundram Case
The Madras High Court was very upset with the Madurai administration because they didn't follow the court's orders.
The court had said it was okay to light a special lamp called Karthigai Deepam on a stone pillar at Thirupparankundram hill, but the administration didn't do it.
The court also told the temple management to file a complaint against a Dargah because they tied a flag on the temple's property.
The court said the police should take action once the complaint is filed.
The court will decide on the contempt charges on 12th January, 2026.
Madras High Court expressed displeasure over Madurai administration's failure to file a response in the contempt of court case.
The court had previously allowed the lighting of Karthigai Deepam on the stone pillar at Thirupparankundram hill, but the administration did not comply.
Justice GR Swaminathan pulled up the District Collector and the Deputy Commissioner of Police for disobeying the court's order.
The court asked the temple management to file a criminal trespass case against the Dargah for tying a flag on temple property.
The matter was posted for framing of contempt charges on 12th January, 2026.
