Sachin Pilot Accuses Election Chief of Undermining Election Commission Independence

Sachin Pilot, a Congress leader, made allegations about how India’s voter lists are being changed.

He said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had sidelined the other two election commissioners.

Pilot also said decisions that are usually made by local officials were being handled centrally.

He alleged that voters’ names were being added to or removed from lists from Delhi.

He claimed about 13 crore names had been removed across India.

He also said voters were being targeted in Haryana, Bihar and West Bengal.

Pilot asked for action against Kumar.

These are Pilot’s claims; the article does not include a response from Kumar or the Election Commission.
