Gujarat to Tighten Love Marriage Regulations
In Gujarat, India, some lawmakers want to make rules stricter for love marriages.
They want parents to agree before their adult children can marry someone they choose.
Also, they want these marriages to be registered in the local area where the couple lives.
This idea was suggested by members from two different political parties, BJP and Congress, during a meeting in March 2023.
The goal is to make sure families are involved and marriages are registered properly.

Parental consent to be made mandatory for adult children marrying of their own choice.
Love marriages to be registered only in the taluka where the man or woman resides.
