New Project to Protect Sandbar-Nesting Birds in Ganga Basin
A new project has been approved to protect the homes of special birds that nest on sandbars in the Ganga river.
These birds, like the Indian Skimmer, are in danger, so the project will watch over their nests and involve local people to help.
The project will start in places like Chambal, Lower Ganga, Bijnor, Narora, and Prayagraj.
The goal is to make sure the river stays clean and healthy for these birds and other animals.
The project also includes new ways to clean the river using natural methods and plans to restore important cultural sites along the river.
