Bengal BJP Voices Diverge After Jadavpur University Violence

Violence broke out at Jadavpur University after student groups argued during a meeting.

The argument reportedly involved Left-leaning groups and the ABVP, a student organization linked to the RSS.

The article says ABVP supporters later returned with weapons and attacked people.

Some students were locked inside a university building.

Several BJP leaders condemned or threatened action over what they called anti-national activity.

Finance minister Swapan Dasgupta said politicians should stay away from student movements.

He also criticized the reported damage to the university’s emblem.

Other BJP leaders used stronger language and spoke of possible future “surgical strikes.”

The state BJP president gave different comments about whether the party and its representatives should be involved.
