Modi Birthday Wishes Overshadowed by Anganwadi Worker Controversy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 76th birthday on Thursday.
Several opposition leaders sent him polite birthday messages.
However, the Cockroach Janta Party raised a different issue.
It said some Anganwadi workers in Madhya Pradesh were pressured to hold birthday events for Modi.
The group said workers were asked to gather women, light a diya and make videos praising him and government programs.
It also said workers could face action if they did not follow the instructions.
The group argued that Anganwadi workers need better pay, working conditions and support instead.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has described its month-long celebrations as a service and welfare campaign.
These competing views made the alleged Anganwadi instructions a major controversy around the birthday celebrations.
Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, formally wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi good health and a long life.
The Cockroach Janta Party alleged that Anganwadi workers in Madhya Pradesh were pressured to organise Modi birthday events.
A reported complaint claimed workers were told to gather women, light diyas, record praise videos and face possible action for non-compliance.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the government should address Anganwadi workers’ low pay, workloads, vacancies and lack of social security.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan includes welfare, service and outreach activities marking Modi’s birthday and his upcoming 25th anniversary in government.
