Sunderban Women Get Mango Saplings for Tiger Conservation
On International Tiger Day, women near the Sundarban Tiger Reserve received mango tree saplings to plant.
They also got journals to track how the trees grow, to learn how bees and other pollinators are important for growing food and keeping the forest healthy.
This project by an NGO, called SHER, hopes to help the women see that taking care of these trees helps the whole environment, including the tigers.
The women were taught how even a small tree can be connected to bigger issues of the ecosystem.
