Shah Offers Debate on Student Crackdown, Gandhi Demands Resignation

In India, the Home Minister is the person in charge of police and safety.

Some students protested in Delhi about a medical exam paper leak, and police used force against them on July 20.

Many people were unhappy with how the police treated the students.

The Opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi, wants Home Minister Amit Shah to say who gave the order to use force.

Rahul Gandhi says that if Shah gave the order, he did something wrong, and if he did not, he is not doing his job well.

Either way, Rahul Gandhi thinks Shah should resign.

Amit Shah said he would not just make a short statement, but would debate the issue in Parliament and answer questions afterward.

Rahul Gandhi said no, because young people do not want to listen to the Home Minister.

Other opposition leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, also protested at Parliament.

Both sides are blaming each other, and Parliament cannot work normally because they keep arguing.
