Odisha to Launch Food Centers to Boost Food Security
The Odisha government is creating food centers called Jan Poshan Kendras in every small village area to help people get food.
These centers will sell important foods like rice and sugar at lower prices, like a special food program.
This will help families who have trouble affording food, especially those who aren't poor enough for some help but still struggle with rising costs.
They're starting with a few test centers to make sure everything works well before they open them everywhere.
This aims to improve health, reduce food worries, and help with the changing food prices in the market.
Odisha plans to establish Jan Poshan Kendras in every gram panchayat.
The Kendras will offer subsidized staples like rice, wheat flour, sugar, salt, and pulses.
The initiative aims to help middle-income groups and economically vulnerable families.
A pilot project with five Kendras will launch to refine operations and gather feedback.
An additional 50 lakh people are expected to come under food security net.
