Omnicom to lay off 4,000 after IPG acquisition
Omnicom, a big advertising company, bought another big company called Interpublic Group (IPG) for $13.5 billion.
Now, they are going to let go of more than 4,000 workers.
They are also closing three smaller advertising agencies and combining them into one.
This is happening because they want to save money and become the biggest advertising company in the world.
Before this, both companies had already laid off thousands of workers in the past few years.
The governments of India, Australia, and the EU have said it's okay for them to do this.
The advertising industry is changing because of artificial intelligence and big tech companies making it easier for businesses to create ads.
Omnicom to lay off over 4,000 employees following its $13 billion acquisition of Interpublic Group (IPG).
Three agencies (FCB, DDB, MullenLowe) will be shut down and integrated into Omnicom's TBWA and BBDO agencies.
The layoffs will primarily affect administrative roles and some leadership positions, aiming for 85% client-focused roles post-cuts.
The acquisition aims to create the world's largest advertising holding company, with $750 million in annual cost savings.
Both companies had previously laid off thousands of employees, with IPG cutting 3,200 jobs in 2025 and Omnicom reducing its staff by 3,000 in the prior year.
