Telangana HC Overturns Land Allotment to Arbitration Centre
Imagine a group called IAMC that helps solve arguments.
The government gave them some land, but the High Court said they shouldn't have.
The court also said IAMC wasn't doing very many cases and that it might not be able to stay open in the future.
The court said the government should be careful about spending money on IAMC, like when they send them cases to solve.
Telangana High Court set aside a government order (GO) that allotted 3.7 acres of land to the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC).
The court upheld GOs providing funds for IAMC's operational expenses and directing government departments to use IAMC for arbitration.
The court made its decision while addressing two Public Interest Litigations (PILs).
The court noted IAMC's performance as being abysmal, citing the low number of cases handled and the high number of pro-bono cases.
The court expressed concern about the IAMC's long-term sustainability and cautioned the government regarding costs.
