Chennai Metro Aids Swift Organ Transport for Transplant
Imagine someone needs a new pair of lungs to live, and those lungs are far away.
A special team brought the lungs to Chennai by plane.
They then used the Chennai Metro train to quickly move the lungs from one station to another.
The metro train was very fast, taking only 21 minutes!
This helped the doctors get the lungs in time for the important surgery.
It's like a super-fast delivery service for a very important package that helps people stay healthy.
This quick transport is possible because of new rules that allow organs to be moved quickly for saving lives.
Chennai Metro transported donor lungs from Meenambakkam to AG-DMS Metro Station in 21 minutes.
The organ consignment arrived by air ambulance from Bengaluru on November 8.
The team reached Meenambakkam Metro Station at 2:07 pm and AG-DMS Metro Station at 2:28 pm.
This transport was made possible by recent amendments in Metro Railways rules.
BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan highlighted the 'One Nation One Organ' policy enabling such inter-state organ sharing.
