Sergio Gor Visits Hyderabad’s Charminar, Celebrating Its Historic Legacy

Sergio Gor, who is set to become the United States ambassador to India, visited the Charminar in Hyderabad.

He drank tea there and praised the monument’s history.

The Charminar was built in 1591 by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah.

People believe it was built to celebrate the founding of Hyderabad.

Its name means “four towers” because it has four minarets.

The building combines Islamic, Persian and Indian styles.

A mosque is located on its upper floor.

The area around it has busy markets, food shops and Laad Bazaar.

The Charminar is still an important symbol and tourist attraction in Telangana.
