Sindhu's Sports Centre in Vizag Picks Up Pace
There is a famous badminton player named P.V. Sindhu who has won two Olympic medals and a world championship.
She is building a big sports centre in the city of Visakhapatnam in India, which people also call Vizag.
This centre will be a place where kids can play and train in seven different sports.
It will have special courts for badminton, a swimming pool, and the first shooting range in the whole state of Andhra Pradesh.
There will also be coaches, doctors, food experts, and places to rest and recover after training.
The best part is that there will be a school right inside the centre, so young athletes can study and play sports without having to choose between them.
The centre is expected to be ready by May 2028.
Sindhu is paying for much of it with the money she earned from her career.
She says she wants to help future generations of athletes, and the Andhra Pradesh government supports her dream.
P.V. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist and world champion, is building the P.V. Sindhu Centre For Sports Excellence in Visakhapatnam (Vizag).
The nearly two-lakh-square-foot campus will bring together seven sporting disciplines, high-performance coaching, sports science, recovery, nutrition, strength and conditioning, and academics.
Facilities will include specialised badminton infrastructure, a 25-metre competition swimming pool, and Andhra Pradesh's first 25-metre shooting range.
An on-campus school will let young athletes pursue education and sport without compromise, and the Centre is expected to be completed by May 2028.
Sindhu said she is committing much of her career earnings to the project, calling it her 'most meaningful contribution to Indian sport', while Minister Lokesh said it aligns with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision for Andhra Pradesh.
