Reader concerns and criticism
Proposed responses and official rationale
Preparing for AI employment
Reader concerns and criticism
Current students, workers and social safety nets may not be prepared for automation, job displacement and cyber threats.
Proposed responses and official rationale
Educational institutions and companies should provide practical AI education, internships, continuous upskilling, large-scale reskilling and stronger international regulation; universal basic income is also proposed as a buffer.
Tamil Nadu government spending
Reader concerns and criticism
Critics say a new Rs 1,200-crore complex, free cars for MLAs and monthly allowances appear inconsistent with the State’s reported debt and unresolved public concerns.
Proposed responses and official rationale
The government’s stated reason for the new complex is that the existing administrative complex at Fort St George cannot be expanded; the letters call instead for revenue growth and stronger attention to public welfare.
Role of sports in education
Reader concerns and criticism
A conventional focus on academic subjects can leave insufficient room for sports, hobbies, leadership and teamwork.
Proposed responses and official rationale
Supporters of school sports argue that it improves fitness, mental well-being and character, and recommend reducing some non-scientific syllabus content, creating training centres and offering scholarships.
